Terms of use

We let you buy prepaid electricity for meters served by Nigerian distribution companies. We are a payment and delivery channel: the electricity itself, the tariff and the meter are your DisCo's.

• Your phone number identifies your account. Keep access to it secure — anyone who can receive your codes can use your account.
• You must be 18 or older and using the service for a meter you're entitled to recharge.
• Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account.

• A flat ₦100 service charge applies to each recharge and is shown before you pay.
• Your DisCo sets the tariff, any VAT, and any outstanding debt recovered from your purchase. Those amounts are theirs, not ours.
• Each DisCo sets a minimum purchase amount. We show yours once your meter is verified.
• Money you transfer into your meter.ng balance stays available for future recharges.

A token is generated by your DisCo and works on the meter it was bought for, once. Please check the meter number before paying — a token issued against a meter number you entered incorrectly cannot always be recovered.

If a payment succeeds but no token is delivered, we requery and retry automatically. If it still fails, contact us and we'll trace it and put it right.

If you turn AutoPower on, you authorise us to buy electricity for that meter from your balance without asking each time. It only spends what's in your balance, and you can turn it off whenever you like.

We depend on your DisCo, our vending partner, banks and mobile networks. When one of those is down, purchases may fail or be delayed. We'll tell you when that happens and we don't keep money for electricity you didn't receive — but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service.

• Don't use meter.ng for fraud, money laundering, or to recharge meters you have no right to.
• Don't attempt to disrupt, probe or reverse-engineer the service.
• We may suspend accounts we reasonably believe are being used this way.

We may update these terms; material changes will be notified in the app or by SMS. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
